Der heilige Felix von Valois ist als bedeutender Bekenner der Kirche bekannt und wird insbesondere als Mitbegründer des Trinitarierordens verehrt. Bereits zu Lebzeiten wurde Felix wegen seiner Frömmigkeit und tiefen Demut geschätzt; sein Leben war von der Suche nach Gott geprägt, die er zunächst in der Einsamkeit als Einsiedler suchte. Gemeinsam mit dem heiligen Johannes von Matha gründete er im späten 12. Jahrhundert den Orden von der allerheiligsten Dreifaltigkeit zur Erlösung der Gefangenen (Trinitarier). Ziel dieses Ordens war es, Christinnen und Christen, die in muslimische Gefangenschaft geraten waren, aus Sklaverei zu befreien, was den Geist der barmherzigen Nächstenliebe und das Vertrauen auf die göttliche Vorsehung besonders zur Geltung brachte. Obwohl die genauen historischen Details seines Lebens nicht immer eindeutig sind, bleibt sein Wirken als Beispiel für tätigen Glauben und Opferbereitschaft erhalten.
Die liturgische Feier seines Gedenktages hebt die geistliche Bedeutung des hl. Felix hervor und würdigt seinen Beitrag für die Kirche, das Apostolat der Gefangenenbefreiung sowie sein Vorbild an Demut und selbstloser Hingabe.
