Gedenktag des heiligen Evaristus, Papstes und Märtyrers
Der heutige Tag ist im traditionellen römischen Kalender von 1962 als "Montag nach dem 22. Sonntag nach Pfingsten" (Feria Secunda infra Hebdomadam XXII post Octavam Pentecostes) ausgewiesen und trägt nur den Rang einer gewöhnlichen Werktagsmesse (IV. Klasse). In der Liturgie des Vetus Ordo wird dieser Tag nicht einem besonderen Heiligen oder Ereignis gewidmet, sondern folgt weiterhin dem Verlauf des sogenannten temporalen Jahres, das sich an den Festen und Sonntagen in Beziehung zum Osterfest orientiert. Die liturgischen Texte und Gebete beziehen sich daher auf das fortlaufende Kirchenjahr und nehmen ihren Inhalt zumeist aus den Lesungen und Gebeten des vorangegangenen Sonntags. Im Herbst, in der Zeit nach Pfingsten, stehen die Werktage oftmals im Zeichen der geistlichen Ausdauer, der Nachfolge Christi im Alltag und der beständigen Bitte um Gottes Gnade in der Zeit des Wartens auf das Kommen des Herrn am Ende des Kirchenjahres. Die Beibehaltung dieser Werktage im Kalender erinnert die Gläubigen daran, dass das geistliche Leben keine festlichen Höhepunkte allein kennt, sondern auch die alltägliche Treue und Geduld in den kleinen Dingen sanctifiziert werden kann. Im traditionellen römischen Kalender von 1962 wird dieser Montag in grün gefeiert und bietet den Gläubigen Raum für privates Gebet, Fürbitte und die Teilnahme an der Messe im Geist der beständigen Hingabe.
