Am heutigen Tag feiert die traditionelle römische Liturgie, gemäß dem Vetus Ordo und dem Kalender von 1962, keine besondere Heiligenfeste, sondern begeht einen gewöhnlichen Werktag (Feria quinta) der sogenannten Zeit nach Pfingsten. Diese Zeit stellt einen Höhepunkt des liturgischen Jahres dar, denn sie erinnert an die Ausgießung des Heiligen Geistes und das Wachstum der Kirche in der Kraft Gottes. Die Werktage nach Pfingsten sind bewusst weniger festlich gestaltet, um die Gläubigen auf das Alltägliche und das stille Reifen ihres Glaubens aufmerksam zu machen. Die liturgischen Feiern sind einfach gehalten, mit grüner liturgischer Farbe, die für das Leben, die Hoffnung und das geistliche Wachstum steht.
Dass heute kein Heiligenfest begangen wird, hat im traditionellen Kalender (1962) eine tiefe Bedeutung: Die Kirche lädt ein, den Rhythmus von Fest und Alltag zu achten, sich im Alltag zu bewähren und das geistliche Leben täglich zu vertiefen. Werktage wie dieser geben Raum für die Betrachtung der liturgischen Lesungen und Gebete im Zusammenhang mit dem Verlauf des Kirchenjahres, besonders im Nachklang von Pfingsten. Sie rufen dazu auf, das Wirken des Heiligen Geistes nicht nur in außerordentlichen Momenten, sondern auch im gewöhnlichen christlichen Leben zu suchen und anzunehmen.
Es handelt sich heute also um einen Werktag des traditionellen (1962) römischen Kalenders, der mit seinem ruhigen Charakter die spirituelle Kontinuität der Zeit nach Pfingsten unterstreicht.
