Gedenkfeier der Mutterschaft der seligen Jungfrau Maria
Am heutigen Tag begeht die traditionelle römische Liturgie gemäß dem Kalender von 1962 den 20. Sonntag nach Pfingsten. Dieser Sonntag gehört in die Zeit nach Pfingsten, die in der außerordentlichen Form des Römischen Ritus als grüne, sogenannte „Sonntage im Jahreskreis“ oder „nach Pfingsten“ begangen werden. Die Zeit nach Pfingsten betont das Wirken des Heiligen Geistes in der Kirche und im Leben der Gläubigen. Dieser Abschnitt ist geprägt von einer ruhigen, aber tiefen geistlichen Reifung und Ausbreitung der Gnade, welche an Pfingsten geschenkt wurde. Die grüne liturgische Farbe steht dabei als Zeichen für Wachstum, Hoffnung und das alltägliche Wirken Gottes im christlichen Leben.
Am 20. Sonntag nach Pfingsten greift die Kirche weiterhin Motive des Glaubens, der Buße und der Hoffnung auf das ewige Leben auf. Die Texte und Gebete dieses Sonntags sind von Vertrauen auf Gottes Erbarmen und seine bleibende Nähe zum menschlichen Leben geprägt. Der Sonntag selbst hat im traditionellen Kalender der außerordentlichen Form fest seinen Platz und wird als Fest der II. Klasse begangen, wodurch er gegenüber den meisten Heiligenfesten den Vorrang genießt. Das Fest verdeutlicht den Glaubensweg der Kirche in der Zeit nach den großen Feiertagen, bis zum Abschluss des Kirchenjahres. Dieser Sonntag ist Teil eines rhythmischen geistlichen Lebens, das durch die wiederkehrende Feier der Geheimnisse Christi und seiner Kirche geprägt wird. Der 20.
