Der heutige Tag im traditionellen römischen Kalender von 1962 ist der Montag nach dem 20. Sonntag nach Pfingsten und trägt keinen eigenen Heiligen- oder Festnamen, sondern gehört zum sogenannten "temporalen Zyklus" des Kirchenjahres. Diese sogenannten "Ferien" (lat. feria) sind gewöhnliche Werktage, die dem Verlauf des liturgischen Jahres folgen und insbesondere in der Zeit nach Pfingsten häufig vorkommen. An solchen Tagen wird die Messe vom vorausgegangenen Sonntag wiederholt, sofern kein Heiligenfest oder besonderer liturgischer Anlass auf diesen Tag fällt. Im traditionellen Kalender werden diese Werktage meist als Tage der Besinnung und des Gebets verstanden, an denen der Gläubige im Alltag verweilt und die liturgischen Gebete und Lesungen des Sonntags vertieft. Das grüne Messgewand, das während der Zeit nach Pfingsten getragen wird, symbolisiert dabei das Wachstum des Glaubens und die Hoffnung in Christus. Dass die Kirche im Kalender bewusst diese gewöhnlichen Werktage belässt, spiegelt die Weisheit wider, auch im liturgischen Alltag das geistliche Leben zu nähren und Zeit zur inneren Sammlung zu schenken. Heute, am Montag nach dem 20. Sonntag nach Pfingsten, wird daher im Vetus Ordo die Messe des Sonntags noch einmal gefeiert, um den Reichtum und die Bedeutung der Sonntagsliturgie weiter ins Leben der Gläubigen wirken zu lassen. Dies ist der liturgische Festtag im traditionellen (1962) Römischen Kalender.
