Montag nach dem sechsten Sonntag nach Pfingsten
Der heutige Tag im traditionellen römischen Kalender von 1962 ist als Werktag, genauer als Montag nach dem sechsten Sonntag nach Pfingsten, ausgewiesen. Es handelt sich also um einen Tag der sogenannten Zeit nach Pfingsten, der keine Heiligen- oder Festfeier zugeordnet ist und als sogenannter "Feria" begangen wird. Die liturgische Farbe ist grün, was auf das Wachstum, die Hoffnung und das geistliche Reifen der Kirche während des Kirchenjahres hinweist. In der Ordnung des Vetus Ordo Missae dienen diese einfachen Werktage dazu, das tägliche christliche Leben zu fördern, indem die Gläubigen eingeladen werden, in der Gewöhnlichkeit des Alltags den Glauben zu leben und zu vertiefen. Die liturgischen Texte und Gebete sind Wiederholungen oder Variationen der Sonntagsmessen nach Pfingsten, was die Kontinuität des Gebetslebens der Kirche unterstreicht.
Der Sinn solcher Ferientage ist es, den Geist der Pfingstzeit weiterzutragen und den Gläubigen Raum zur persönlichen Betrachtung und zum Gebet zu bieten. Es ist ein Tag ohne spezielle Heiligengedenkfeier, an dem vor allem das liturgische Jahr und seine Zeitstruktur in den Vordergrund treten. Die traditionelle Ordnung hebt dadurch die Bedeutung der liturgischen Jahreszeit hervor und ermöglicht gleichzeitig die Einführung von Votivmessen oder Gedächtnissen privater oder gemeinsamer Anliegen, insofern kein höherer Rang dem entgegensteht. Diese Gestaltung macht deutlich, wie auch die unscheinbaren Tage in der Liturgie wichtige Gelegenheiten zur Heiligung des täglichen Lebens darstellen.
Es handelt sich somit um den Montag nach dem 6. Sonntag nach Pfingsten im traditionellen (1962) römischen Kalender, einen gewöhnlichen Werktag, der den Fluss des Kirchenjahres widerspiegelt.
