CatéGPT documentation
CatéGPT is a Catholic documentary assistant: it answers questions about the faith using the official texts of the Church and provides verifiable references for every answer.
ℹ️
In short. You ask a question; CatéGPT searches the official sources, writes an answer at the chosen level, inserts
[1], [2]… markers and verifies each link before showing it.What CatéGPT does
- Sourced answers — every key statement links to a source via a numbered marker tied to a list of verified references.
- Two answer modes — quick (concise) and academic (in-depth).
- Six reading levels — the answer adapts to the audience (see the table below).
- 7 languages — French, English, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish; auto-detected.
- Library — save and organize answers into folders.
- Sharing — publish an answer as a read-only public link.
- History & search — find your conversations and search within them.
- API — integrate answers into your applications (see the API documentation).
- Widget & plugins — add the chat to any site (see the widget documentation).
How it works
- Question — the user writes their question in their language.
- Document search — the engine queries the official sources first (vatican.va, clerus.org…).
- Writing — an answer is written in the chosen mode and level.
- References — citations are extracted, verified (the link exists and points to a trusted source), then numbered.
- Suggestions — three “go further” questions are offered.
Reading levels
| Level | For whom | Style |
|---|---|---|
| Child | Youngest catechism | Very simple, vivid |
| Teen | Youth ministry, schools | Clear, concrete |
| Catechesis | Parish groups | Pedagogical |
| General | Everyone (default) | Accessible and precise |
| Academic | Students, formation | Developed, argued |
| Priest | Clergy, theologians | Technical, exhaustive |
Sources
Answers favour the Church’s official corpus:
- Sacred Scripture (Bible)
- Catechism of the Catholic Church and its Compendium
- Ecumenical councils
- Papal magisterium (encyclicals, exhortations…)
- Canon law
- Social doctrine of the Church
- Fathers and Doctors of the Church
💡
Reference links are verified automatically before display: a reference marked as verified points to a page that is actually reachable on a trusted source.
