Mittwoch nach dem 13. Sonntag nach Pfingsten
Der heutige Tag im traditionellen römischen Kalender von 1962 ist der "Mittwoch nach dem 13. Sonntag nach Pfingsten". Dieser Tag wird als sogenannte "Feria" begangen, das heißt als Werktag ohne ein besonderes Fest eines Heiligen oder eines Ereignisses aus dem Leben Christi. Er gehört zum sogenannten Kirchenjahr, genauer zur Zeit nach Pfingsten, die liturgisch auch als "Nachpfingstzeit" oder "grüne Zeit" bezeichnet wird, weil die Farbe Grün in der Liturgie verwendet wird. An einem solchen Mittwoch widmet sich die Kirche besonders dem stillen Gebet, der Betrachtung und der Feier des heiligen Messopfers, wobei keine spezifische Feier oder besondere Texte vorgesehen sind, es sei denn, eine Votivmesse oder eine Messe für ein besonderes Anliegen wird vom Priester gewählt. Die Lesungen und Gebete stammen somit entweder vom vorangegangenen Sonntag, oder es wird eine Messe für verschiedene Anliegen gewählt.
Dass der Tag keine eigene Heiligenfeier trägt, erinnert uns an den Rhythmus des liturgischen Jahres, in dem nicht nur die großen Feste, sondern auch die scheinbar "einfachen" Tage bedeutsam sind. Sie laden ein, das alltägliche Leben im Licht Christi zu führen und die Gnade Gottes in den gewöhnlichen Umständen zu suchen. Die traditionelle Liturgie betont mit diesen "Feriae" die Beständigkeit und Stetigkeit im geistlichen Leben. Somit ist der heutige Mittwoch ein Tag stiller Treue zur Praxis des Glaubens und der Teilnahme am heiligen Messopfer, so wie es die Kirche seit Jahrhunderten empfiehlt. Es handelt sich um den liturgischen Tag des traditionellen (1962) römischen Kalenders.

Brethren: The promises were made to Abraham and to his offspring. He does not say, And to his offsprings, as of many; but as of one, And to your offspring, Who is Christ. Now I mean this: The Law which was made four hundred and thirty years later does not annul the covenant which was ratified by God, so as to make the promise void. For if the right to inherit be from the Law, it is no longer from a promise. But God gave it to Abraham by promise. What then was the Law? It was enacted on account of transgressions, being delivered by angels through a mediator, until the offspring should come to whom the promise was made. Now there is no intermediary where there is only one; but God is one. Is the Law then contrary to the promises of God? By no means. For if a law had been given that could give life, justice would truly be from the Law. But the Scriptures shut up all things under sin, that by the faith of Jesus Christ the promise might be given to those who believe.
