11. Sonntag nach Pfingsten
Am heutigen Tag feiert die Kirche gemäß dem traditionellen römischen Kalender von 1962 den 11. Sonntag nach Pfingsten. Dieser Sonntag gehört zum sogenannten 'Temporale', dem festgebundenen Jahreskreis, und steht nach dem Ende des Osterfestkreises im Rahmen der langen nachpfingstlichen Zeit, in der die Gläubigen eingeladen sind, das Wirken des Heiligen Geistes im Alltag zu leben. Die liturgischen Texte und Gebete dieses Sonntags ermutigen zur Dankbarkeit für die empfangenen Gnaden und weisen auf die Notwendigkeit eines lebendigen Glaubens und der Standhaftigkeit im christlichen Leben hin.
Im Jahreskreis ist diese Zeit geprägt von der fortwährenden Meditation über die Geheimnisse des Glaubens und des christlichen Lebenswandels – ganz in Anlehnung an die Ermahnungen der Apostel, den empfangenen Glauben treu zu bewahren. Der 11. Sonntag nach Pfingsten fällt je nach Ostertermin auf ein anderes Datum (im Jahr 2026 auf den 9. August) und ist als Sonntag II. Klasse im Rang festgelegt. Die traditionelle liturgische Farbe ist grün, das Zeichen für Hoffnung und das Wachsen im Geistlichen.
Im Mittelpunkt dieses Sonntags steht nicht das Gedächtnis eines bestimmten Heiligen, sondern die fortlaufende Entfaltung des christlichen Lebens nach der Herabkunft des Heiligen Geistes zu Pfingsten. Die Kirche will damit die Gläubigen anleiten, das alltägliche Leben mit Glauben und Vertrauen auf Gottes Führung zu gestalten. Die liturgische Überlieferung des klassischen römischen Ritus schenkt diesen Sonntagen besondere Bedeutung, um Glauben, Hoffnung und Liebe im Alltag zu vertiefen.
