Der 11. Sonntag nach Pfingsten ist ein Fest des traditionellen römischen Kalenders von 1962 (Vetus Ordo Missae). An diesem Sonntag bleibt die liturgische Betrachtung im Geist der Pfingstzeit, in der die Kirche die Ausgießung des Heiligen Geistes über die Apostel und damit den Beginn der missionarischen Tätigkeit der Kirche feiert. Die sogenannten "Sonntage nach Pfingsten" sind in der katholischen Liturgie eine lange Periode, die vom Pfingstfest bis zum Ende des Kirchenjahres reicht und einen großen Teil des liturgischen Jahres umfasst. Sie werden manchmal auch als "grüne Zeit" bezeichnet, da die liturgische Farbe Grün getragen wird und sie von der beständigen Gnade und vom Wachstum im christlichen Leben handeln.
Die Evangelien und Episteln, die an diesen Sonntagen gelesen werden, sind sorgsam ausgewählt und zeigen verschiedene Aspekte der Nachfolge und christlichen Tugend. Der 11. Sonntag nach Pfingsten hebt besonders die Barmherzigkeit Gottes und den Geist des Gebets hervor, oftmals symbolisiert durch das Evangelium von der Heilung des Taubstummen (Markus 7,31-37), das traditionell an diesem Tag verkündet wird. Durch dieses Zeichen wird die zugrundeliegende Botschaft deutlich: Christus ist es, der unsere geistige Taubheit und Stummheit heilt und uns zur Fülle des Glaubens und Gebetes führt.

Klasse) für diesen Sonntag unterstreicht die Bedeutung des liturgischen Lebens der Kirche im Jahreskreis. Insgesamt steht der 11. Sonntag nach Pfingsten für die fortdauernde geistliche Entwicklung des Christen durch das Wirken des Heiligen Geistes und die treue Teilnahme am kirchlichen Leben.
