A feria in the liturgical context is a weekday without any special feast or commemoration attached to it, and on such days, the Mass and Divine Office make use of the propers (that is, the specific prayers and readings) pertaining to the 'season'—here, the time after Pentecost. The green vestments worn during this time symbolize spiritual growth and hope, characterizing these 'green Sundays' and weekdays as periods of spiritual maturation between the great feasts of the Church. Ferias serve as moments for the faithful to focus on the ordinary rhythms of Christian life, emphasizing perseverance and daily conversion rather than extraordinary celebrations.
