Today, according to the traditional (1962) Roman calendar, is a simple Ferial day: Monday after the 19th Sunday after Pentecost. These so-called 'Ferias' are days without a special assigned saint or feast, occurring amidst 'green' or 'Ordinary Time' in the liturgical year—here, within the period after Pentecost. The liturgy continues to draw from the Mass and prayers of the preceding Sunday, focusing on the ongoing spiritual journey of the faithful and the Church’s life in the Holy Spirit following the great feast of Pentecost. Ferias hold a significant place in the 1962 Missal: they allow for quiet reflection, weekday attendance at Mass, and serve as a breathing space in the rhythm of the liturgical calendar, orienting hearts to the daily Christian call of conversion and faithfulness. The celebration of a simple weekday at this time reaffirms the importance of sanctifying ordinary daily life through participation in the liturgy.
